Did you know that even UPF clothing does not cover all exposed skin? That’s where sunscreen comes in.
unscreen labels can be very tricky. Here’s what I look for when reading them:
What is the product made of? Just like ice cream can be chocolate or vanilla, sunscreen comes in two major flavors: inorganic (titanium dioxide, zinc oxide) and organic (benzophenones, oxybenzone, cinnamates, salicylates, etc.)
Does it cover both UVA (aging rays) and UVB (burning rays)? If so, it will have the words “broad spectrum” on the box.
Is it water resistant? If so, for how long? (water resistant is 40 minutes, very water resistant is 80 minutes). However, that’s still not a full day at the beach, so reapplication is necessary.
And most importantly, what is the SPF of the product?
